Howdy!

We’re Maria & Eric, a couple from Baltimore City who started vending on the convention circuit a few years back as Made by Mages. Somewhere along the way, we realized that what we really wanted was to be a bigger part of the community we’d found ourselves in.

Enter: The Crowned Cat!

We’re a consignment shop in Historic Ellicott City catering to renaissance faire goers, fantasy readers, tabletop RPG gamers, cosplayers, and general nerds of all varieties.

If you spend enough time in these spaces, you know how easy it is to acquire a lot of stuff. You find a new costume, outgrow an old favorite, move on to another hobby, or realize that the thing you absolutely had to have three years ago has been sitting in your closet ever since.

But that stuff has stories! We wanted to create a place where the things you’ve loved don’t have to spend the rest of their lives collecting dust in a closet (or worse) end up in a landfill. Instead, they can find their next adventurer, make some new memories, and maybe even become someone else’s new favorite thing.

And, of course, we couldn’t start this new adventure without Haru, our relentlessly demanding CEO and mascot from the Made by Mages days. He made sure we kept creating then, so naturally he had to come along for whatever came next.

Don’t worry though! The other five cats and two dogs still get plenty of attention… They just don’t care much for the spotlight.
