A fantasy-focused consignment shop in the heart of Historic Ellicott City. The Crowned Cat is a curated retail space by Made by Mages, created for the fantasy community: From faire-goers and cosplayers to gamers, collectors, readers, makers, and adventuring parties.

This guide will walk you through what we accept, your selling options, how to submit your items, and what happens once you’re accepted.

Three Ways to Sell

Traditional Consignment

You keep 60% | No monthly fee

You set the price. We display, promote, and sell your items. When an item sells, you receive 60% of the sale price and we receive 40%.

Best for: One-of-a-kind pieces, personal collections, and sellers who don't plan to regularly restock.

Maker & Merchant

$250/month | You keep 85%

Maintain an ongoing collection with us without having to staff your own booth. We merchandise, promote, and sell your goods, and replenish your display from the inventory you provide as items sell.

You pay $250 per month + 15% of sales.

Best for: Artists and makers who can provide multiple items and regularly replenish their inventory.

Sell To Us Directly

Get Paid Upfront

For select items, we may offer to purchase your pieces outright. If you accept our offer, you get paid immediately and we'll take care of the rest.

Because we assume the risk of resale, outright purchase offers will generally be lower than what you could earn through consignment.

Best for: Closet clean-outs, larger collections, or anyone who would rather get paid now than wait for their items to sell.

How It Works

  • Tell us what you’d like to sell, if you have a preference for how it is sold, and photos of the items.

  • We’ll review your item(s) and information and let you know whether it’s a fit.

  • We offer a few different ways to work with us - either tell us your preference or we can recommend the option that makes sense.

  • Drop Off & Setup: Once your items are accepted, we’ll arrange a drop-off time and get you set up in our system for inventory tracking and payouts.

    We Sell Your Items: We curate, display, and sell your accepted inventory on your behalf.

    We Track Your Sales: Every sale is recorded in our system so we know exactly what you’re owed.

    Monthly Payouts: Eligible sales are paid out at the beginning of each month for the prior payout period.

    We Handle Sales Tax: We collect applicable sales tax from customers and remit it. One less worry for you!

  • Garb & Clothing: Cloaks, tunics, dresses, bodices, full costumes and more

  • Jewelry & Accessories: Crowns, circlets, belts, bags, jewelry and adornments

  • Home & Curiosities: Décor, tapestries, artwork, books, maps and collectibles

  • Armor & Display Weapons: Replica armor and approved non-functional/display weapons

  • Handmade Goods: Original work from artists and independent makers

Before You Reach Out…

  • Items should be clean, in good condition, and ready for their next owner.

  • Please disclose any wear, missing pieces, or other condition concerns. Clear photos are especially helpful for items with visible wear.

  • We do not accept functional or projectile weapons, AI-generated artwork or designs, or 3D-printed items made from models the seller did not personally design.

  • Acceptance is based on condition, fit with our shop, and current inventory needs.
