A fantasy-focused consignment shop in the heart of Old Ellicott City. The Crowned Cat is a curated retail space created for the fantasy community: From faire-goers and cosplayers to gamers, collectors, readers, makers, and adventuring parties.
This guide will walk you through what we accept, your selling options, how to submit your items, and what happens once you’re accepted.
What is Consignment?
Consignment is a way to sell your items through a shop without having to run one yourself!
Instead of selling your items directly to us, you bring them to The Crowned Cat and we handle displaying, promoting, and selling them in our storefront. When something sells, you receive a portion of the sale based on your consignment agreement.
It's a great way to give pre-loved items a new home, or for artists and makers to get their work in front of new customers without having to manage their own retail space.

The Crowned Cat specializes in items inspired by fantasy, folklore, renaissance faires, tabletop gaming, and all things a little whimsical.
Think renaissance faire garb that's ready for its next adventure, cosplay pieces, handmade accessories, fantasy artwork, dice, collectibles, and other treasures that deserve to be discovered.
We carry a mix of pre-loved pieces, handmade creations, and brand-new merchandise, all curated with our community in mind.
Three Ways to Sell
Traditional Consignment
You keep 60% | No monthly fee
You set the price. We display, promote, and sell your items. When an item sells, you receive 60% of the sale price and we receive 40%.
Best for: One-of-a-kind pieces, personal collections, and sellers who don't plan to regularly restock.
Maker & Merchant
$250/month | You keep 85%
Maintain an ongoing collection with us without having to staff your own booth. We merchandise, promote, and sell your goods, and replenish and display from the inventory you provide as items sell.
You pay $250 per month + 15% of sales.
Best for: Artists and makers who can provide multiple items and regularly replenish their inventory.
Sell To Us
Get Paid Upfront
For select items, we may offer to purchase your pieces outright. If you accept our offer, you get paid immediately and we'll take care of the rest.
Because we assume the risk of resale, outright purchase offers will generally be lower than what you could earn through consignment.
Best for: Closet clean-outs, larger collections, or anyone who would rather get paid now than wait for their items to sell.
How It Works
Step 1: Reach out! 📮
Start by emailing The Crowned Cat with a little information about yourself, what you'd like to sell, and which consignment option you're interested in. Photos are always helpful, especially for pre-loved or one-of-a-kind items! You don't need to have everything perfectly organized before reaching out.
Step 2: We Review 📥
We'll review your items and preferred consignment option to make sure they're a good fit for the shop. Once we've confirmed everything, we'll send over a consignment agreement for you to review and sign. We're happy to answer any questions before moving forward!
Step 3: Drop Off
After your agreement is signed, we'll arrange a time for you to bring your items to our storefront in Old Ellicott City. Can't make it in person? Shipping is welcome too! Shipping costs are the consignor's responsibility, and we'll provide a separate mailing address and instructions for shipped items.
Step 4: Inventory
Once your agreement is signed and your drop-off is scheduled, we'll invite you to Ricochet, our consignment management system. You'll have access to your own consignor portal, where you can add your items, manage your inventory, and keep track of sales. Prefer not to enter everything yourself? No problem! We're happy to help with inventory entry once your items arrive.
Step 5: Shop Ready
When your items arrive, we'll check them in, process them, and print inventory labels through Ricochet. From there, we'll take care of displaying your items throughout the shop, including signage, pricing labels, and other retail essentials. If you've provided multiples of the same item, we may display a few at a time and replenish them as they sell. Have a particular way you'd like your work displayed? Let us know! We're happy to consider your preferences while keeping the shop's displays cohesive.
Step 6: Your Items Find a Home
Once everything is on the shelves, we'll handle the day-to-day selling, customer transactions, and shop operations. You can keep track of sales through your Ricochet portal, and we'll issue payouts monthly for items sold during the previous month, according to your consignment agreement. You're also welcome to provide business cards or other contact information for customers. We love helping shoppers discover the artists, makers, and people behind the treasures they find!

Jewelry & Accessories: Crowns, circlets, belts, bags, jewelry and adornments
Home & Curiosities: Décor, tapestries, artwork, books, maps and collectibles
Armor & Display Weapons: Replica armor and approved non-functional/display weapons
Handmade Goods: Original work from artists and independent makers
Before You Reach Out…
Items should be clean, in good condition, and ready for their next owner.
Please disclose any wear, missing pieces, or other condition concerns. Clear photos are especially helpful for items with visible wear.
We do not accept functional or projectile weapons, AI-generated artwork or designs, or 3D-printed items made from models the seller did not personally design.
Acceptance is based on condition, fit with our shop, and current inventory needs.
